DIY Matron or Maid of Honor Card

This diy maid of honor card is a great way to ask your friend to be your maid or matron of honor at your wedding! The following tutorial was submitted by Tenchia, one of our readers. Tenchia writes:

I wasn't sure how to ask my best friends to be my maid and matron of honor at my wedding. I saw a few ideas online that were cards, so I decided to make my own.

I started out with a piece of 12 x 12 black cardstock and cut it in half (i made 2 from this).

I folded the pieces both in half to make a card and I then took scrap pieces of cardstock that I got from a craft store and cut out a dress shape. (You can buy a bag of scrap cardstock...different colors and shapes at your local craft store) I cut a small piece of cardstock and glued it onto the dress to make it look like a sash.

I wanted the dress to stand out a little more from just the black cardstock, so I used a piece of white computer paper and used scrapbook scissors to shape a rectangle. I then glued this white paper onto the black cardstock so that I had a black border.

Next I glued the dress onto the white part of the card and I used tissue paper to make a small flower and glued it onto the sash. (To do this: fold a piece of tissue paper severa times and then cut it into a small circle. I threaded a piece of string through the center of the collection of tissue circles to hold them together. I them started with the top circle and crunched it up. Once you crunch all the circles, it will look like a flower.)

I printed out a clipart picture of the word "love" on my printer and glued it onto scrap cardstock and then to the card to give it more detail.

On the inside I glued a poem that I found online asking my friend to be my Matron of Honor.

This was a very inexpensive project since I had all of this lying around the house. I'm sure my friends are going to love it! And yours will too!
