Gerber Daisy Seating display

by Barbara Barras
(Vermont)

I've always dreamed of having a field of daisy's display my seat tags. The flowers were planted and the tags were made...and then the weather turned on me and all of the flowers died 2 weeks before the wedding. I had to come up with something quick.

1) we made small boxes out of wood and planted cat grass. It's beautiful and strong. Simple 6X6 boxes and painted them silver to go with the colors of the wedding.

2)I found a gerber daisy petal pattern online and cut out 200 of them on white cardstock paper. I used the hot pink color of card stock to make the middle of the flower and basic bbq skewers to use as the stem (I could have painted them green but felt that might have taken away from thier simplicity). I used a glue stick to glue two of the petals together and then glued the center pink on. I used scotch tape to tape the skewer to the back of the flower. We cut the skewers to different heights to give it a little bit of a look.

Once these were in the cat grass they looked beautiful. I used them to line the aisle as well. (as it was an outside wedding).
