An Easy Do It Yourself Wedding Invitation Project
Looking for an elegant yet simple do it yourself wedding invitation project? You can create gorgeous coordinated DIY invites really quickly with colored cards, colored envelopes, scissors, a glue stick and a craft paper punch. Craft paper punches come in so many fun shapes now that you are sure to find something that will work with your wedding theme for your do it yourself wedding invitation project. I’ve seen leaves, trees, dragonflies, hearts, flowers, suns, moons, frogs, butterflies and so much more! I used CreateForLess to find my craft paper punch for this project. Simply search for “craft paper punch” and start browsing the shapes!

The cards and envelopes you select for your do it yourself wedding invitations are up to you, anything will work. It looks nice if you select two different colors that contrast so you can lay one color over another behind the cutout paper punch design. I love the selection at Dick Blick Art Materials and used their Lokta Cards and Envelopes for this project. The paper is handmade and unique but is still printable on my printer. Blick also sells craft paper punches. Materials: - Cards, envelopes & extra contrasting paper to lay behind the cut out
- Craft paper punch
- Glue stick
- Scissors
- Printer (or you can take to kinkos, or handwrite them)

This do it yourself wedding invitation project is so self explanatory that there isn’t much for me to write! Simply punch out the design on extra colored paper and use the glue stick to glue it to the front of your card. You can add more layers of colored papers like I did if you want, but it isn’t necessary. For the envelope, you can punch your shape in one corner through both layers of the envelope and just leave it as a “window” that your card on the inside will show through. You can also layer a contrasting colored paper on the inside of the envelope instead of leaving it as a “window”. Another nice way to decorate the envelope is to punch through the center of the back flap and back it with the contrasting paper. A cool alternative to the craft paper punches are craft embossers! These are another of my recent addictions. They work the same way as the punches, but instead of cutting out the paper they emboss it, or raise it. These are even easier to use for do it yourself wedding invitations because you don’t need to layer paper. Have fun with this do it yourself wedding invitation project and try not to get too addicted to craft paper punches! Trust me, you’ll start punching out everything.
