Save Money by Choosing a Destination Wedding

Why should you consider planning a destination wedding? Well, besides the beautiful location, it often ends up costing LESS! A wedding with 20-50 guests will likely be cheaper than a large at home wedding with 200 guests. This is assuming you are not paying for airfare and hotel stay for guests.

Keep in mind that although it is relatively easy to plan, there are some Special Considerations for Destination Weddings that you'll want to keep in mind!

Check out photos and read about having a Kauai Destination Wedding which may be more simple that you think.

Planning a wedding in another location is an excellent choice for a couple who don’t live in the same city or area as their parents or who have friends and family scattered all over the country.

Guest author, Darius Kersulis, writes about some great California Destination Wedding locations.

Don’t think you can handle planning from across the ocean? Too complicated? Think again! Many excellent pre-packaged (yet still customizable) destination-wedding plans are available through resorts, hotels, inns or cruises.

How does a destination wedding save you money? You’ll save money because your guest list will be much smaller. Smaller guest lists equals less food, less alcohol and fewer favors. You can also continue honeymooning at the location, which will save you in airfare costs.

So where should you go? There are a ton of choices, but to keep it easy, Caribbean and Hawaii, Florida and Las Vegas are very popular destination weddings as it is easy and legal to be married in these locations if you are a US citizen.

Just Some of the Islands in Caribbean where you can get married:

  • Anguilla
  • Antigua & Barbuda
  • Aruba
  • Bahamas (Nassau or Freeport)
  • Barbados
  • Belize
  • Bermuda
  • Bonaire
  • British Virgin Islands
  • Cayman Islands
  • Curacao
  • French West Indies
  • Jamaica
  • Trinidad & Tobago
  • Turks & Caicos
  • Us Virgin Islands

When picking a location keep in mind what is important to you. Want to get married next to a waterfall or on the beach? Will you stay there for your honeymoon afterwards? Is snorkeling important? Can you take day trips to other interesting travel attractions? What is the weather like during the month we are planning for? Is it during hurricane season?

Have a blast looking at photos and deciding on the best destination location for you. Don’t forget to pack some sunscreen! Happy and safe travels!

It’s your wedding, do it the way you want!
