You chose these girls to be in your wedding for a reason - they are people you care about and they care about you too. Presents to them are a special way to say thanks to for being part of your day. Engrave their names, a quote about friendship or some word or phrase that has special meaning for just the two of you. Make a reference to an inside joke-those types of things will be cherished. Try to resist the urge to engrave your name and your groom's name on their gifts. That is a keepsake that would be meaningful to you, not to your bridesmaids. Other more homemade oriented and certainly unique bridesmaid gift ideas are giving a photo of the two of you in a frame. How about making a photo scrapbook of your friendship and include stories of your most cherished memories with her? Was she a childhood friend that you memorized Grease with? Give her Grease memorabilia! Is she someone you always went out to bars with and drank martinis? Give her a martini shaker! There is no reason you need to stick to the traditional gifts if it doesn't fit with you and your friends. Find something that feels right to you. Hey, if they hate it...they are your best friends and they'll love you anyway.
