No Flowers Centerpiece IdeaHere is a lovely idea for you for a centerpiece that involves no flowers! The beauty of a "no flowers" centerpiece design is that you can make them a year (or longer!) in advance. No fuss or stress just the day before your wedding.
This one is made with wire and glass seed beads and a single votive is in the center that reflects beautifully all over the seed beads. Almost looks like something from the ocean. The base is a square wooden bowl with several drilled holes in it for the wires to poke through the bottom. (Any wooden bowl would work, just make holes with a drill for the wires)
Wedding Trend: iPodsI'm sure you know already that more and more brides are using iPods to plan their own music for their wedding. In fact, I used one five years ago when I planned mine and I talk about it on this DIY Wedding Music page.
A more recent idea is to give out iPods as groomsmen and even bridesmaid gifts. The cool part is that if you buy from the Apple.com store you get free laser engraving on it! Yes, free!
With iPod shuffles starting at $49, it is a quality gift that your groomsmen or bridesmaids will use. I especially love the idea of them for destination weddings because the gift recipients could use them during travel.
DIY Tip - If you know your friend's taste in music, load songs onto it for them, or even better, give them a gift certificate to iTunes along with it! If you know your gift recipient already has an iPod (who doesn't!) often just a gift certificate for more music is a perfect gift. One that I guarantee will be better received than another engraved money clip.
Okay, enough Apple love. Can you tell I just bought a new computer? :)
Costco Flowers TipLooking to do your own flowers and want cheap prices? Check out Costco!
The flower company, Native Floral, is located in all Costco stores and offers incredible prices for flowers, but is only available IN the stores, not online. Your best bet is to call ahead or come into the store to put a special order in for the amount and colors you need and when you'll need them.
Prices may vary so please call your local store, but I was recently quoted two dozen roses for just $15.99, which is darn cheap!
Thanks so much for the tip, Fran Lentz! By the way, she is at the Greenville, SC location, so if you are local, ask for Fran, she is happy to help you.
