Reader Tip: MORE extra invitations ideas...In response to last month's newsletter where I asked if anyone had other crafty ideas for what to do with extra invites, Candace B. offered up this great idea:
"I haven't done this yet, but maybe you could decorate a wedding scrapbook with them. The ouside cover of it, like a collage."
Cool idea! Turn any plain scrapbook cover into a collage of your invites! Decoupage anyone? In fact, you could also decoupage a wooden keepsake box with a cut up collage of invites and inside store some wedding keepsakes. Put in your jewelry, a champagne glass, invite, garter, dried flowers, whatever you're planning to save.
Decoupage is where you simply glue on the collage to the ouside of your box (or book cover) and then paint a seal over it to protect it. This method would also be a stunning way to decorate a wooden frame with an invite collage that would of course frame a wedding photo!
On a wooden box or wooden frame, several coats of clear varnish would protect it forever. These Decoupage Preparation Instructions from the Decoupage-Online site are pretty detailed in explaining what you'll need.
